Martindale-Brightwood Community Development Corporation The Martindale-Brightwood Community Development Corporation (MBCDC) is committed to the revitalization and rebirth of its community by creating opportunities for homeownership and encouraging economic development. In 2010, the CDC was interested in looking more deeply at their capacities and program strategies. Through the support of two of their funders, the Central Indiana Community Foundation and Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, they engaged NeighborWorks Organizational Assessment Services, and the experience was extremely beneficial. Executive director Josephine Rogers said, “The OAS assessment process gave our board and staff a chance to look at our work comprehensively.” As a result of the assessment process and report, Martindale Brightwood CDC has fine tuned goals, developed partnerships with architectural and real estate firms, and completed valuable training locally and through NeighborWorks America. Rogers suggests that others “strongly consider an OAS assessment if they are ready to have frank conversations with board members and take a hard look at their organization. It offered extraordinary benefit” for her Indianapolis CDC. |
